Mozart in vienna
When I get up, way too friggin’ early IMO, I receive a message from the forest hike that it’s cancelled due to rain & wind. I’m bummed out, but I’m also not going back to sleep, so I get up & get ready for the day. I google “best healthy breakfast Vienna”, but quickly discover that it’s a national holiday & pretty much everything is closed. *Face palm & a FUCK*
It looks like another day of walking around aimlessly & taking in the sites visually. At least the price is right on that attraction! I’ve got until 8 p.m. to kill until the Mozart gig & I end up logging 25K footprints in the rain. I get back to the apartment just in time to freshen up & get back down to the main area to make the concert.
The concert ends up being way more than I ever hopped for & even have a weep with joy moment. The pianist was absolutely incredible, playing all the pieces from memory & putting on an entertaining show. There was a brief intermission & a woman with a young girl…about 10 years old…were sitting beside me. The Mom went to the WC & the girl struck up a conversation with me, starting out with, “I notice you speak English, where are you front?”. It turns out they live in Ontario, but the Mother is originally from Estevan (basically my hometown). God, this world is small. We all had a nice, but the woman sketched around telling me her maiden name & who her family were in Estevan. I guess we all have skeletons.
I was going to UBER it home, but decided to end the day strong & walked. When I finally crawled into bed I fell asleep in seconds. I had a plane to catch in the morning for Tirana Albania!
